Ashwood Publishing is an ethical, honest fee-for-service publisher and author services provider. Ashwood is based in Tasmania but has worked with authors in Canada, the UK, and Denmark as well as Australia. It is not a vanity publisher that will publish anything for cash: books go through a rigorous selection and editing process and authors retain full rights to their books. Ashwood is a quality, affordable, one-stop-shop option for authors who are either too niche for traditional publishers or want to stay in control of their work.  

Ashwood began in the 1990s, when Jonathan Sturm felt that a friend had been ill-served by her publisher and set up Ashwood Books to offer a better-quality alternative. In 2020 he was joined by Dr Susan Young; in early 2021 Jonathan sadly retired due to ill-health, and Susan continued the business as Ashwood Publishing. Susan has a background in academia, teaching, and editing educational materials, and is an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
